Lookbook

I’m a fan of lookbook. I really am. I can spend hours on it, staring at pretty people in pretty outfits, but the “hype” system lookbook has implemented has gotten me thinking. No offense to anyone on lookbook, but there have got to be a hundred pictures of the same “look,” take for example, the oversized tshirt over tights paired with a pair of docs. I’m not criticizing the look. I have worn the same look on occasion. But why do some of those pictures get more hype than others? Artsy pictures, that is what I have concluded. Artsy pictures get more hype, which is silly. There are a few pictures of someone who is basically just wearing bra and underwear, those get hundreds of hype. They’re artsy, but would one really walk out of the house like that? Same goes for the bikini pictures, how much originality can one have with a bikini? Unless, of course, one had made the bikini, then kudos. What are people hyping when they hype that picture? The bikini? That’s not really an outfit. The person’s body? The picture quality?

I just don’t understand
